Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Kanupi built for?
Owner-operated auto repair and tire shops. Kanupi is parts and tires discovery that works inside the POS you already run, and it turns the standards in your head (the brands you trust, the margins you hold, how you talk to customers) into the defaults on every ticket, even when you are not at the counter.
How does Kanupi pay for itself?
On the ticket. Kanupi closes four places money leaks out of a job: the part that did not fit (it comes back and the bay sits), the labor nobody added (labor attaches to every part at your shop rate), the markup that drifted (your margins price every line, whoever is at the counter), and the quote that took six tabs (one search, the cart fills itself, and it lands on the work order). Follow-ups bring deferred work back as the next ticket. The calculator on our homepage puts your own numbers on the missed-labor and margin leaks.
Is Kanupi a POS, or does it replace my shop management system?
No. Kanupi is not a point-of-sale or shop-management/DMS system, and it does not replace one. Like PartsTech and Nexpart, it is designed to plug into the POS you already run: you open Parts & Labor on any work order, search once, and the parts and their labor land back on the ticket. The scheduling, inspections, Marcus, and Reserve pieces layer on top of your POS, they do not swap it out.
Which POS systems and suppliers does Kanupi work with?
Kanupi is built to plug into the point-of-sale you already run rather than replace it. Your POS keeps the repair order, the invoice, and payments; Kanupi fills the ticket and hands it back. Tell us your exact POS and the suppliers you buy from, and we will confirm the fit on a demo using one of your real repair orders.
How long does it take to get started? Does the team need training?
Onboarding is a shift, not a quarter. Kanupi was built by people from the industry, so it follows how a shop already works and the team picks it up on day one. No go-live date, no certification, no binder.
Who decides which parts and brands get recommended?
You do. You set the playbook, preferred brands, margin floors, fitment rules, and Marcus enforces it. Kanupi never quietly substitutes its own judgment for the owner's; it makes your preferences the priority on every quote your advisors build.
Can I bring my own pricing, brands, and loyalty rules?
Yes, you own the rules. Set your own labor rates, brand preferences, margin targets, points-per-dollar, tier thresholds, and customer messaging. Bring an existing loyalty program over without losing customer history. Reserve runs at the organization level, so the rules stay consistent across every shop in your group.
How accurate is Marcus?
Marcus is trained on decades of automotive repair knowledge and works inside the standards you set. Marcus is very good at common diagnoses and quoting, and is still an assistant: Marcus surfaces the call, your team makes it, and we always recommend a professional for safety-critical repairs.
